Biography

Yanick Jean, well known for her paintings on the condition of women, was born on May 10, 1946 in Port au Prince.

Yanick Jean was a painter, decorator, poet and novelist. After a bourgeois but difficult childhood with his parents, Yanick Jean found himself at the heart of a group of intellectuals in Port au Prince. She lives in the United States with her husband, playwright Syto Cavé. From 1968, in New York, she participated in the beginnings of the adventures of the theatrical troupe made up of exiles in New York, the Kouidor troupe. She contributes to the realization of certain stage sets. She trained in painting.
