Exhibitor Info
The Coningsby Gallery offers competitive rates and various packages to selected artists interested in hiring the space. We can also offer specialist marketing and PR and display of pre-approved items in our online shop.
We are always keen to review submissions of work. Please contact us via info@coningsbygallery.com or 07884 314361 to submit your work or to enquire about any matter.
Hire Arrangement: The Coningsby Gallery’s standard gallery hire arrangement for exhibitions in 2023 and 2024 is £2,760 + VAT for a one-week exhibition and £4,968 + VAT (after a 10% gallery discount) for a two-week exhibition. This standard arrangement is negotiable per request and we can offer student discounts. If you are interested in a longer show, we can of course discuss rates.
A non-refundable/transferable deposit of 50% + VAT of the total amount invoiced is usually required within 14 days of issue of a pre agreed invoice and the final 50% + VAT six weeks before your exhibition. This is to secure your exhibition dates. If you fail to meet these deadlines, the exhibition may be cancelled at the gallery’s sole discretion.
Marketing and PR: As part of the Exhibition package, we will create an exhibition page displaying your Press Release and up to 20 images relating to the show. We will also send a HTML invitation for your exhibition to our private database, and a mailing of your Press Releases with images to leading UK commissioning clients in advertising, design, book publishing, magazine publishing, international art buyers, UK private illustration buyers, art critics/journalists and PR agencies. For this we require a Press Release, which must be no more that a one page Word document, written in the third person, with the title of your exhibition, synopsis of the artwork and show and a general overview of the exhibitor(s). The Press Release must be of a high standard, so please only send us a finalised version.
Web shop: We offer the opportunity to sell works in the online shop, for which the gallery will take a commission of 40%. However, we do not have the storage capacity to deal with stock items for sale. Unless pre agreed with The Coningsby Gallery, you will be responsible for storing and shipping your artwork and items for sale (this also is applicable for works sold in the gallery). Before submitting any work to us, please get a quote for UK, EU and Worldwide P&P of each item and relay the information to us. You may find the Post Office website helpful to get a quote and you can pay and print labels online. Once the payment has been received from the client, we will refund you the costs of P&P. Please provide us with a receipt of purchase. If you do not use appropriate or quality packaging and the item/artwork gets damaged in transit, unfortunately the customer is entitled to a full refund at your own cost. Pictures of all artworks (unless computer generated) must be of a professional standard and taken with a plain white backdrop to stay consistent and coherent. Please accompany the artworks with the following information:
• Product name: The name/title of the artwork or item. Please name each image file.
• Product type: Information about the artwork. For example, the type of print for sale, type of paper stock, genre of item (i.e. Hand cut paper collage on Fabriano Paper).
• Product description: Medium used to create the artwork or item (e.g. for artworks; acrylic, oil, pen & ink etc; for other items; plastic, metal, ceramic etc) and a brief description about the piece.
• Edition number or if it is an original work of art. Please let us know what print numbers are available. We will display and keep track of stock numbers, so it is vital that you do not sell any of the prints you submit to us.
• Limited edition print/photograph authenticity certificate: This is advised, especially for any photographic prints. It is a way to authenticate that you will only print the number stated on the artwork and gives the client reassurance.
• Size: The 2/3 dimensions in metric of the artwork/item. (height, width and depth in cm/inches). All 3 dimensions and weight will be required for postage costs.
• Price in £ of the nett price amount which you’d like to receive from us once we sell the item (excluding any VAT). Please note that we plan to add gallery commission to the amount you detail plus a further 20% for VAT.
• Signed: If the work is signed
• Picture Credits: If you would like to credit the photographer.
• Framed or Unframed: If the work is framed or unframed or both available (please state separate prices)
• Delivery costs to the UK/EU/ROW.
Payment Facility: If you are hiring the space and do not want to use our card payment facility, you are welcome to bring your own card machine and it is your sole responsibility to take care yourself of securing all payments (all such to be made payable to a beneficiary other than The Coningsby Gallery). The staff cannot accept cash for any artworks or merchandise on display in the gallery. We will however accept cheques if you are not in attendance. The website has an online PayPal payment facility. There is 40% gallery commission on all online sales, 60% is for the artist (minus a PayPal fee of 3.20% to 3.90%, depending on buyer’s location, +£0.20).
Content/rules: The Coningsby Gallery maintains a reputation for high quality and tasteful exhibitions, therefore reserving the right to refuse any exhibits we feel are unsuitable. Images the gallery considers ‘artistic’ nudity will be considered, but any depiction of sexual acts or graphic and pornographic content is not permitted. Equally, material which is demeaning to women, racist, offensive to religious beliefs, homophobic, supports extreme political views or denigrates older or disabled people is unacceptable. Hirers are expected to behave in a reasonable and responsible manner and to ensure that associates and friends also do so. We will not tolerate any form of physical or verbal abuse towards staff, and individuals who are or appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs etc will be asked to leave. In the event that this necessitates the closure of an exhibition, The Coningsby Gallery will not refund any costs.
P&P: As an accepted artist you are responsible and liable for costs of all materials, packaging and delivery costs. These costs cannot be reclaimed from The Coningsby Gallery and should be taken into account when pricing your artwork sold in the gallery. Delivery costs of works sold via the web shop are charged when the buyer checks out. You will ensure that artworks are securely packaged and labelled for delivery to the customer. The Coningsby Gallery will not accept claims for reimbursement in the event of damage to artworks through insufficient packaging.
You will not meaningfully include any contact details in the packaging that would enable the customer to deal directly with you and you are not permitted to send any other work or advertising to the customer without expressed permission by The Coningsby Gallery. The artwork must arrive with the customer within the time period you have advertised in your listing. Should you become aware of any reason why an artwork that has been ordered from you may not be received by the customer within this period, you must notify The Coningsby Gallery immediately of the reason for and expected length of the delay. The Coningsby Gallery will attempt to contact the customer and in some cases may offer a refund to the Customer resulting in the cancellation of the order from you.
