Russell Walker [AKA: Fetchaset] is a leading light in the visual arts industry. His seductive graphic images, lateral ideas and strong distinctive style have assured his popularity with advertising, design and publishing agencies across the globe for almost 40 years. Selective clients include BBC, British Airways, EMI Records, Harley Davidson, Hasbro Europe, IBM, Lacoste, La Perla, M&S, winning many awards along the way.
It was the idea of wellbeing that sparked Russell Walker’s exhibition, ‘Oh Yeah’. After several pandemic lock-downs during 2020 and many days of Covid-19 isolation, Russell decided that it was essential to reconnect with the creative world, as well as old friends using his latest body of work as the vehicle to do so. “…cocooned away from the world during this time, I started to graphically reminisce, relive and reflect upon happier episodes from my youth. Consequently, I was able to re-imagine a time of hazy cosmic jive…on paper”.
This collection of large vibrant images explores a range of themes from Christmas to Kubrick, Spectacles to Space Ships, Animals to Androgyny. Each work is drawn with style, wit and a graphic positivity for our time. Also on view are furniture designs, 3D pieces, developmental sketch books and a wide range of other creative statements from the Fetchaset studio…Oh Yeah.
Throughout the duration of the exhibition, Russell is delighted to be welcoming the national visual literacy charity The Big Draw, whom he has had a longstanding relationship with. There mutual focus for drawing and image making is in evidence during the ‘Oh Yeah’ exhibition. Viewing of this work can continue to be enjoyed during the period from June 13 - June 18 within the gallery, when The Big Draw takes residency of the space.
