An Exhibition of Paintings by Alice Boggis-Rolfe
–
Predominantly a landscape painter, Alice Boggis-Rolfe takes her paints wherever she goes. Her subject matter stretches from the English countryside to as far afield as Burma. The nature and potential of oil paint constantly surprise her and embracing this, she allows her paintings to develop spontaneously unconstrained by any single artistic language. Alice records a personal and distinctive response to the landscape around her rather than a direct representation of what she sees. Undeterred by storms or downpours, which she would argue make the most exciting paintings, she has produced over the last two years an astonishing array of landscapes. She works in oils and, although mostly on site, she has recently started producing large scale paintings in her studio. Based on earlier studies, these paintings draw on visits to the Cornish coast, the Scottish Highlands and anywhere in between.
Alice lives and works in London. Since finishing art school she has exhibited widely in group shows including The New English Art Club, The Royal Society of Portrait Painters and The Chelsea Arts Club.
Her first solo exhibition will be at The Coningsby Gallery in London from 23rd- 27th November 2015.
