Celebrated Posters
–
Vincent McIndoe is an illustrator and fine artist of international renown. Over his twenty-five year career he has won numerous honours; among them a Gold Award in International Packaging (1997, London Art Director’s Association) and a Gold Award for Beer Poster of the Year in North America (1996).
From the Lautrec and Bonnard posters in his Mother’s art books to travel posters on his family vacations, Vince has always been inspired to imagine. A nostalgic smile crosses his face whenever he views a familiar poster. His art is inspired by the panache of the great styles of the Belle Epoque. His goal is to project the energy and style that are so widely admired in vintage poster art. He stands in awe of so many.
Vince’s art is not printmaking and yet he strives to emulate traditional lithography. Many hours are spent trying to achieve the lithographed ink quality. This is achieved by glazing many layers to bring out heightened colour while retaining the base surface colour.
Vince’s commissions range from branding and store design to animations. Though he is accomplished in several media, he is best known for his graphics and oil painting styles. Inspired by the post-impressionistic works of Toulouse-Lautrec, Vincent has created extraordinary posters for Moet et Chandon, Waterman, the Tour de France and several wine festivals. He was also commissioned to create portraits of Queen Elizabeth, Michael Jordan, Bob Dylan, Bono, Madonna, Levi Strauss in his painting style as well as more than 20 commemorative stamps for Canada Post and a silver dollar for the Royal Canadian Mint.
Vince’s prominent and prestigious clients includes The Ritz Hotel (London), American Express, Coca Cola, Lindt Chocolate, Molson Brewing Company, Labatt’s Brewing Co., Reader’s Digest, Scotia Bank, Four Season’s Hotels, Annheuser-Busch, Prego, Smirnoff, Nike, Canada Post Corp., Campbell’s, Kraft General Foods, BMW, Jaguar, Dare, Nestlé, Wrigley’s, Starbucks, Penguin Publishing, Harper Collins, Volkswagen, Honda, Inter-Continental Hotels, Stolichnaya Vodka and Jadot Wines.
His current projects include a mural and storefront for Cáfe Rouge and the cover of the Christmas edition of The New Statesman.
Vincent works out of Toronto, New York, Seoul and Penang, Malaysia.
