JILL GEORGE GALLERY PRESENTS
CHRIS ORR, RA ‘A VISION OF LONDON’ DRAWINGS AND PRINTS
15 - 27 FEBRUARY 2016
This is Chris Orr’s 16th solo exhibition with Jill George Gallery and his first solo since 2012 when he exhibited at the RA Fine Rooms in 2012.
For this exhibition of new drawings and prints of London, Chris was working from a new development from 1Tower Bridge on the South Bank with a sweeping view of the Thames and a spectacular view of Tower Bridge and the Pool of London and looking across the River to the Gherkin and the new ‘Walkie Talkie’ and ‘Cheesegrater’ buildings.
Chris was born and brought up in London and loves the City, especially the way the River dissects the City. His work is now of historic interest with all the new developments on the North and South Bank.
Chris Orr was born in 1943 and studied at the Royal College of Art. He was Professor of Printmaking at the Royal College of Art from 1998 - 2008. Elected a Royal Academician in 1995 and made a Professor Emeritus in 2008.
