Eternal Transience / An exhibition by Olga Lunina & Anna Rakhvalova

Opening Times

Mon 14th Sept - 12pm - 6.00pm Tues 15th Sept - Sat 19th Sept 10.00am - 6.00pm

The exhibition presents the complete world of Eternal Transience across three forms: the film itself, shown on screen; five sculptural habitat pieces, each housing a hand crafted ball-jointed figure within her world; and photographic works by Anna Rakhvalova, including photobooks, which extend the visual language of the film into still image.

Eternal Transience is a handcrafted hybrid work merging live puppetry, sculptural worldbuilding, textile art and experimental moving image. Performed entirely in real time without digital manipulation, the film follows a ball-jointed creature from a non-human realm as she moves through five fragile states of existence: Morning, Day, Evening, Dream, and Night.

Eternal Transience is a meditation on transformation and impermanence. Through a sequence of five metamorphoses, a solitary creature evolves - its form shifting, dissolving, and re-emerging in a continuous state of becoming. Each transformation is entirely physical and performed in real time. There are no digital effects; what unfolds on screen exists fully in the material world: fragile, tactile, and unrepeatable.

Following its selection and screening at FASHIONCLASH Festival in Rotterdam, the film was invited by Fashion in Flux to be shown at Kunsthal Rotterdam as part of a specially curated evening themed OTHERWORLDING - developed in response to the museum’s current Iris van Herpen exhibition. It has also been officially selected by the UK Fashion Film Festival and the London Fashion Film Festival, where it received the award for Best 2D/3D Animation.
