Future Perspectives / University of West London Degree Show
–
Opening Times
Tuesday 10 June - Friday 13 June
11am - 6pm
We are delighted to announce this joint degree show, “Future Perspectives”, presenting final year student work from the BA (Hons) Photography and BSc (Hons) Visual Effects courses at the University of West London.
For BA (Hons) Photography, the exhibition presents a selection of individual approaches to photography, ranging from images reflecting on childhood memories, to self-portraits, explorations of student life and ideas about ageing. On the course, we encourage a practical and critical exploration of photography, helping students to develop their own vision through tackling exciting modules which challenge their understanding of the medium. Technical skills form an important part of our approach and are considered an essential component of study in terms of underpinning creative ideas and exploration. The work you see on the walls gives a snapshot of the extended final year projects and the associated research that students have undertaken throughout their final year.
For BSC (Hons) Visual Effects, the sky’s the limit this year with effects, images and animations that evoke flying Marvel characters and Planet of the Apes style effects from movies. Theatrical scenarios bring the West End stage to screen, while brightly coloured computer-generated worlds transport us from fantasy to reality. Digitally sculpted superhero characters and visual effects versions of manga animation create a cinematic feel inspired by other genres. Our exhibition shows our students’ imagination and hard work, reflecting not just their degree show work but the extensive research journey underpinning their technical and creative expertise. This show is the culmination of three years of preparation for a career in Visual Effects.
Based in the heart of London, adjacent to the world-famous Ealing Studios, our BSc (Hons) Visual Effects degree course will enable you to create visual effects to an industry-ready level. You will create both the dramatic effects seen in Hollywood blockbusters and also learn the craft of the more subtle effects that enhance everything from film through commercials and television to architectural visualisation and augmented reality.
