Jill George Gallery / Tomas Watson: ‘Scenes from a Life’

During a year and half of transition in Tomas Watson’s life and work, he has produced a series of paintings, drawings and monotypes, which shows these changes, leading to the title of the exhibition, ‘Scenes from a Life’.
In the paintings Tomas is using moments of intense realism but juxtaposed with sketchy, rudimentary areas of paint, some parts highly finished, with others left open making the works more narrative.
Whilst in London leading up to the show and without a studio for three weeks, he has produced a new series of silverpoint drawings, a technique developed by Leonardo da Vinci and one Tomas loves and suitable for his artistry of drawing.
Also included are a series of new monotypes, another medium Tomas enjoys and one in which he is constantly experimenting and using different techniques.
