Sarah Hollebone: Recent and Some Earlier Work
–
Opening night: Monday 23 September 6pm - 9pm
Having started with a thorough formal training, Sarah Hollebone maintains a traditional approach. Her work displays formality of structure combined with graphic fluidity and her intention is to exploit the various pictorial aspects of what she observes – for example tonal and colour relationships, the sensuousness of paint, and the intrinsic character of the subject.
Although Sarah Hollebone paints portraits and landscapes, currently her work is concentrated mainly on still life (some of her watercolour studies have been compared to the work of Eliot Hodgkin). ‘The still life’, she says, ‘is obligingly stable to work with and one doesn’t have to talk to it.’
In this exhibition Sarah Hollebone is showing recent work in various media and some examples of earlier work.
