21 contemporary and long established illustrators show work from regular newspaper and magazine columns.
The exhibition gives a fascinating insight into the complexities of illustration for a regular column. The establishment, evolution and continuity of a visual identity over weeks, months and years has been approached differently by each illustrator. The art worked solutions are as varied as the subjects covered; the publications range from the Radio Times to New Scientist, from the Guardian to Top Sante.
A rich diversity of styles and approaches are represented; ways of working including conceptual, humorous, painterly, 3d, mixed media and digital, all with a common thread.
Exhibiting illustrators include Jake Abrams, Bill Butcher, Andrew Baker, Jonathan Burton, Robin Chevalier, Sue Clarke, Miles Cole, Spike Gerrell, Jonny Hannah, Adrian Johnson, Javier Joaquin, Dom Li, Daniel Mackie, Gary Niell, Detmer Otto, Ali Pellatt, Ingela Peterson, Paul Slater, Adrian Valencia, Ian Whadcock, and Neil Webb.
All the illustrators currently work across the broad spectrum of the industry, and many of them are lecturers in illustration at various colleges around the country.
Exhibition organised and curated by Sue Clarke.
