Toni Canto / Worlds Encountered
–
In what marks his first international show outside of his native Spain, Toni Canto is pleased to present ‘Worlds Encountered’, an exhibition of large black ink portraits exploring different cultures.
After devoting years to developing his practice and technique, Toni has developed his own signature style. He is repeatedly in search of the significance of black ink stroke thrown on plain white paper, and this exhibition is inspired by that search.
The show features 13 or 15 large size black ink portraits - including large representations of animals such as elephants and gorillas - from different cultures, created over a period of 6 years, between 2010 and 2016.
A self-taught artist, Toni has exhibited his work since 1989. Starting from creativity and with no reference, Toni’s work reflects the search for imagination within hyperrealism. His art is figurative and yet invites the viewer to look beyond what we perceive as real. His work leaves windows open to the viewer’s own imagination to perceive worlds of possibilities.
The exhibition will run from 17th - 22nd October, open daily from 10am until 6pm, Mondays to Fridays.
The Private View will be held on Thursday 20th October, from 6pm-8pm.
