University of West London BA (Hons) Photography & BSC (Hons) Visual Effects Degree Show 2024
–
Tue 11 June – Fri 14 June 2024 Open 11am - 6pm
We are delighted to announce this joint degree show, New Visions, presenting final year student work from the BA (Hons) Photography and BSC (Hons) Visual Effects courses at the University of West London.
The photography on display includes depictions of night-time walks along the Thames Estuary to explorations of cultural heritage, from collages of the metropolis to botanical still life. The course encourages a practical and critical exploration of photography, helping students to develop their own vision through tackling exciting modules which challenge their understanding of the medium. Technical skills form an important part of this approach and are considered essential in terms of underpinning creative ideas and exploration. The work you see on the walls gives a snapshot of the extended final year projects and the associated research that students have undertaken throughout their final year.
Visual Effects work on show defines what happens when imagination meets reality. Images and animations show cinematic shots of simulated tsunami effects crashing into cities, neon-drenched streets of cyberpunk computer-generated environments, digitally sculpted game characters, and the ethereal exploration of chakras. The exhibition offers a view into the dedication and ingenuity of Visual Effects students, reflecting not just their final-year endeavours but also the extensive research journey that fuels their creative exploration and preparation for a career in Visual Effects.
The London School of Film Media and Design at the University of West London (UWL) is a vibrant hub of creative learning, offering professionally oriented courses which have been designed and developed with input from employers and industry specialists.
