You, Me and Beyond / Lucia Domenici

Street photographer Lucia Domenici’s photography exhibition ‘You, Me and Beyond’ looks at the fleeting and powerful connection between the subject, photographer and the camera. Stories from the streets never told or shared, only captured and imagined – it will open from 9th-14th October 2023.

Lucia Domenici’s new exhibition documents the rarely told and intimate moments shared with strangers - neither aware of what the other is thinking, some posed and smiling subjects, others transient moments of bustling life, never to be discussed further until hung on the gallery walls for debate.

Artist, Lucia Domenici, said: “You never know what someone is thinking, body language is a powerful reflection, but you are always reading between the lines, guessing what is actually on people’s minds in a rapidly changing world. We have leapt from crisis to crisis this year, yet there is an air of proud resilience and calmness on the streets.”

“All the time, everywhere, people are making connections; sharing moments. I love capturing unstaged shots that are open to interpretation - this is what I find exciting, it’s a real authentic slice of life.”

The acclaimed Italian artist and photographer living in London, Lucia Domenici, showcases 11 black and white images captured across four metropolitan cities Chicago, New York, London, Madrid and Sydney. Each piece invites you to delve into the depths of a face, a gaze; to wonder at the story, and the hidden thoughts within. 

Working in black and white for its purist, honest aesthetic – quoting renowned photographer Ted Grant: “When you photograph people in colour, you photograph their clothes. When you photograph in black and white, you photograph their soul.”

About Lucia Domenici Lucia, who shoots on a Fujifilm X- T20 technically started street photography in 2016 as a hobbyist when she moved to London, and in 2019 was discovered by a curator. She is also an experienced, well-travelled, cosmopolitan Creative Director, working for established global brands and agencies. Domenici’s commercial work affords her the freedom to pursue her photographic ambitions: the spontaneity of street photography contrasts and provides balance to Domenici’s professional work.
